Exhibition “Livin’ on a tin can and eatin’ outta one”: Paint, Prose and Poetry by Bruce ‘House’ Milner & Company
This exhibition takes a look at the creative vision of musician, poet and painter, Bruce Milner. In the main gallery nineteen carved and richly coloured paintings created by Bruce Milner and his family members; wife, Liz Barrett-Milner and her aunt, Barbara Browne, are presented alongside poems by Milner, his sister Jean McVey and noted Canadian poets – John B. Lee and Raymond Knister and songwriter, Fred Eaglesmith. The visitor is invited to read the poems as a painting or view the painting as a poem.

Features the work of thirty-eight Norfolk Studio Tour artists and artisans participating in the 2010 Studio Tour. Author David Beasley Launches Two Books 7:00-8:30 p.m.
David Beasley, author of the popular novels Sarah’s Journey and From Bloody Beginnings, will launch two books. Violet’s Flight about the escape from Burma of tens of thousands over the Himalayas to India at the time of the Japanese invasion in 1942. Poets John B. Lee and Glen Sorestad 7:00-9:00 p.m.
This will be an evening of poetry readings with authors John. B Lee of Port Dover and Glen Sorestad of Saskatoon (Sask.). John B. Lee will be reading Sweet Cuba, which he translated from contemporary Cuban poetry. Glen Sorestad will be reading from the chapbook, Road Apples and from a volume of poetry, What We Miss. Richard Tai Grove of Brighton will give opening remarks about Cuban poetry and Canada Cuba Literary Alliance. Publications will be available for purchase after the reading.

Norfolk Studio Tour Spotlight on George Conklin and Vera Cline-Hayes (Sept 3-26)
Painter George Conklin works depict “intense, physical characteristics” in his landscapes. George says, “I paint atmosphere and my impressions of the feeling of a scene in the hope of making it permanent.” Pen and ink artist Vera Cline-Hayes creates intricate designs using textured papers, fabrics and gemstones to combine a unique blending of balance and symmetry.
